Our Village
We’re often asked when would be the ‘right time’ to move to a retirement village. Our advice is, “The sooner the better. Ideally during the late sixties to early seventies.” This optimises the chances of your being able to make the most of what the village has to offer; increasing the likelihood of making new friends and becoming an integral part of the community.
As a small village of fewer than 135 residents, we can accommodate a spectrum of individual and care needs with the majority of residents living independently. We look to maintain this lifestyle for as long as possible. However, help is at hand in our frail care facility should someone require a short stay (respite) on their road to recovery, or in the event of a resident needing ongoing care and assistance.
There are 49 cottages for Independent living accommodating approximately 60 people, board and lodging accommodate 40 and the long-term care homes 31 individuals.
Residents are welcome to enjoy meals in the dining room. A specialised catering team balances nutritional requirements with delicious 3-course home-cooked meals. The very reasonable cost is included in the full board and lodging rental, for all other residents (and any visitors) there is an additional charge.
We are able to provide in-house counselling as we have a professional social worker on the team who also takes responsibility for ensuring residents (including our more frail ones) have access to exercise and activities to encourage socialisation and engagement.
She also assists with the applications for SASSA pensions when this is appropriate.
Residents have access to respite care and a daily clinic for minor medical attention such as checking blood pressure/sugar levels etc.
There is undercover parking for residents’ vehicles.
For our resident’s safety and peace of mind, the estate is securely fenced and the gate is manned at all times.
